The scent
The rose arrives almost immediately and it is the real thing — centifolia absolute, rich and petal-heavy, with the slight fruitiness that only a genuine rose absolute has. But it never gets to be pretty on its own: ambrette pushes in with a warm, musky, almost skin-like texture, and vetiver essence runs underneath, green and rooty and dry. Then the ash accord shows up, faintly smoky, like a rose left too close to a fire. It stays dark, warm and close for hours.

How to use it
