If you are starting from scratch, buy two things

A gentle cleanser and a daily sunscreen. That is the whole routine that matters. Everything else — serums, masks, eye creams — is added afterwards for one specific concern, not before.

Sunscreen first

In Egypt, UV is high all year, not just in summer. Look for SPF50+ and a PA rating of PA+++ or PA++++, which measures protection against the UVA rays that drive ageing and pigmentation. Anessa and Lirene both sit in that range here, from about 1,699 EGP down.

Then add for your concern

  • Dullness — a brightening sheet mask two or three times a week. From 13 EGP each, so it is the cheapest way to test what suits you.
  • Dark circles or puffiness — a targeted eye cream, applied with the ring finger and patted, not rubbed.
  • Dehydration — a hydrating mask and a lighter cleanser; tight skin after washing means the cleanser is too harsh.
  • Makeup removal — a dedicated remover before the cleanser, not instead of it.

Frequently asked questions

What does PA++++ mean on a sunscreen?

PA measures protection against UVA rays, the ones that cause ageing and pigmentation. More plus signs means more protection, and PA++++ is the highest rating. SPF only measures UVB, so both numbers matter.

Do I need sunscreen indoors in Egypt?

If you sit near a window, yes. UVA passes through glass, which is why dermatologists recommend daily use year-round rather than only on beach days.

In what order do I apply skincare?

Cleanser, then any treatment or serum, then moisturiser, then sunscreen last in the morning. At night you skip the sunscreen and can add a mask two or three times a week.
